Position Overview: Non-Agency Underwriter
Are you passionate about making quality lending decisions and delivering exceptional customer service? We're seeking an experienced Non-Agency Underwriter to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will use your extensive knowledge of loan policies and procedures to review and evaluate complex mortgage applications, ensuring the best outcomes for both the organization and our clients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Loan Evaluation: Review and analyze applicants' credit histories, financial statements, and other documents to make informed loan decisions.
- Team Collaboration: Work with team members to address potential solutions and exceptions for loan files that may require special consideration.
- Document Analysis: Interpret and analyze complex tax returns and financial documents.
- Adaptability: Stay updated on program changes and new guidelines, implementing them efficiently with minimal error.
- Customer Service: Provide outstanding support to both internal and external customers.
- Product Knowledge: Maintain an up-to-date understanding of available loan products and program guidelines.
- Confidentiality: Adhere to security policies and confidentiality standards.
- Mentorship: Support and mentor fellow underwriting team members as needed.
- System Utilization: Utilize DU and LP underwriting systems to manage loan processing.
- Data Management: Use computer systems to enter, access, and retrieve financial data.
- Team Participation: Engage in discussions to enhance departmental efficiency.
- Flexibility: Be prepared to work overtime as needed and perform other duties as assigned.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience: At least two years of experience in mortgage loan underwriting.
- System Knowledge: Extensive experience with DU and LP underwriting systems.
- Production Environment: Proven ability to manage underwriting in a high-production environment with set quotas.
- Guidelines Familiarity: Strong understanding of FNMA and FHLMC guidelines and comprehensive knowledge of loan products.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with attention to spelling, composition, and grammar.
- Multi-tasking: Ability to prioritize responsibilities, work well under pressure, and perform with minimal supervision.
Physical and Work Conditions:
- Standard office environment, including work at a computer terminal.
- Requires some sitting and walking throughout the day.
- Must be open to working overtime to complete assigned tasks.
