Position Overview:

Join our dynamic team as a Non-Agency Underwriter, where you'll play a key role in processing mortgage loan documentation for both conforming and complex loan packages. With your expertise in evaluating loan applications and understanding policies, you'll help us enhance organizational success while managing risk. Your experience and judgment will be essential as you navigate various loan scenarios and contribute to our goals.

Key Responsibilities:

- Review and analyze applicants' credit histories, financial statements, and other documents to make informed lending decisions.
- Collaborate with team members to find solutions or exceptions for denied loan files.
- Interpret and assess complex tax returns and financial documents with precision.
- Stay informed about program changes and new guidelines, implementing them with accuracy.
- Provide excellent customer service to both internal and external clients.
- Keep up to date with available loan products and investor guidelines.
- Maintain confidentiality in line with security policies.
- Mentor and support other team members as needed.
- Utilize DU and LP underwriting systems efficiently.
- Enter, access, and retrieve financial data using computer systems.
- Build and maintain constructive working relationships with colleagues.
- Participate actively in departmental discussions to improve efficiency.
- Be flexible with work hours, including potential overtime.

Preferred Qualifications:

- At least two years of experience in mortgage loan underwriting.
- Strong familiarity with DU and LP underwriting systems.
- Proven ability to underwrite in a high-production environment with set quotas.
- In-depth knowledge of FNMA and FHLMC guidelines and various loan products.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain quality control standards while meeting production goals.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including proper grammar and composition.
- Capable of multitasking, prioritizing responsibilities, and working effectively under minimal supervision.

Work Environment:

This position is based in a standard office setting with typical equipment and tasks, including work at a computer terminal. The role involves a combination of sitting and walking throughout the day. Flexibility for overtime may be required to complete tasks.
