UC San Diego’s Temporary Employment Services department is seeking an experienced event photographer to capture a special milestone for The Kavli Institute for Brain and Mind (KIBM). On Monday, October 28, 2024, KIBM will host a large-scale symposium in celebration of its 20th anniversary at the Salk Institute, from 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM.

We are looking for a talented photographer who can:

Capture high-quality images of the symposium, in both indoor and outdoor settings.
Operate a range of professional photography equipment to ensure optimal results.
Provide your own professional camera equipment for the day of the event.
Travel to the event venue (Salk Institute).
While the primary focus is on photographing the event, there is the possibility that post-event editing services may be needed. This would include color correction, retouching, and enhancements using software like Adobe Photoshop or Lightroom to deliver polished, professional images.

Anticipated duration: 1-day event
Compensation: $40.13 / hour
Location: Event will take place at the Salk Institute for Biological Studies, west of the main campus in La Jolla. Reserved parking will be provided.
Work schedule: Monday, October 28th 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM. Lunch will be provided.

Qualifications:

Demonstrated knowledge of photographic principles and techniques.
Ability to work independently or in a group with strong communication and collaboration skills.
Advanced experience shooting digital still photography.
Experience in the handling and use of SLR cameras, lenses, and tripods.
Experience with event photography, preferably in an academic or corporate setting.
